THE PERIOD OF FORMATION OF THE FIRST ORCHESTRA
In 1933, a new round of development of education, literature, national art and culture began in the country. Under the leadership of the People's Commissar of Education of the Kazakh Regional Committee Temirbek Zhurgenov, amateur art activities developed rapidly in the republic. The first Kazakh musical and dramatic theater was created. Educational institutions were opened. Musical art centers flourished. The Kazakh National Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after Kurmangazy was founded in 1934. During the formation of the orchestra, its first artistic director and chief conductor was academician Akhmet Zhubanov. In 1933, a small ensemble of 11 talented dombra players based on national musical instruments was created at the Alma-Ata Music and Drama College under the leadership of academician Akhmet Zhubanov. The founders of the artistic group were the first professional specialists of Kazakh music: kobyz player Zhappas Kalambayev, sybyz player Iskak Ualiev, dombra players Makhambet Bokeikhanov, Nausha Bokeikhanov, Lukpan Mukhitov, Kambar Medetov, Kali Jantileuov, Uakap Kabigozhin, Gabdulman Matov and other skilled performers and performers of folk music. A small ensemble created at the music school first performed at the First Congress of People's Artists in 1934. This was the first concert of a dombra ensemble in the history of Russian music. The initial repertoire of the ensemble included the kuis "Kenes", "Bi kuy", "Karabas" and the folk songs "Balkurai", "Kargash". The Kazakh Central Executive Committee highly appreciated the talent of the talented dombra players who performed at the 1st All-Kazakhstan Congress of People's Artists and adopted a special resolution on the creation of an orchestra. Based on a special resolution of the People's Commissariat of Education of the Kazakh ASSR dated June 25, a decision was made to create an orchestra of the Kazakh Central Executive Committee at the Music and Drama College. The ensemble, which included dombra players who possessed high performance skills on national musical instruments, quickly gained popularity.
